I attend many high school events such as home football/softball game and other sporting events. I have also helped organize many events throughout the community such as Jesse James Days, Halloween handouts, interacting with the kids in different programs such as dare and also at the high school for career days
As Sheriff, I started doing a “Weekly Bulletin” for all of the deputies and included the troopers, city officers, and any other law enforcement around that wanted to keep everyone updated on stuff going on weekly throughout our community involving law enforcement and other activities.
I also worked with deputies and encouraged them to be involved in the area communities and go to community events.
I work with different area coalitions and groups to help with bringing resources and training to the county.

Helped grow the Detectives unit.
Helped start the SRT (Special Response Team) for high risk search warrants and special operations. Worked within my budget to get this going, provide training and equipment for the team.

I am very detail oriented and proven this by setting up different size operations including organizing extra deputies/reserves during busy holiday weekends and times when we had flooding. Being out myself and helping and preparing and having extra reserves and deputies to account for all of the influx of people helped keep people safe.
I was also very oriented each month with my budget and was always re-evaluating the different costs and what we were spending and was able to be within those budgets EVERY year and well under in several years.

Very involved with working on getting grants every year personally to get better equipment for the deputies and staff.
Organized Directed Patrols of trouble spots at different times where we had command staff, deputies, and detectives saturate an area deterring criminal activity and were very successful and had positive results each time.
"In God We Trust" put on the back of the patrol cars along with universal striping alike of all the patrol vehicles

Before taking over as Sheriff in 2013,
I had set some long and short term goals before and am going to do that again.
Some of the goals that I accomplished were
- I was out in the county, helping take calls, patrolling, serving papers, helping with court, and teaching DARE
- I encouraged deputies to be more involved with the community and going to different community events
- Made sure that deputies were in uniform and wearing their protective vests and striving to maintain a professional appearance
- Good communication between the Sheriff’s Office, city police agencies, MSHP, and all emergency services
- worked towards and implemented an FTO program to get deputies up on training and be more effective and could advance
- ****I think was a big one**** - updated the policy and procedure manual that had been in place since the mid 1990’s and just added to here and there - updated/upgraded with it being online where deputies could access it and update it easily with state/federal laws and best practices nationwide
I am also proud of how much we accomplished in 8 years and how everyone thought as a family and we worked together from Jailers, Admin staff, Deputies, Detectives, and Command Staff.

- I would like to get the 911 CAD and the Sheriff's Office Caliber report system to work seamlessly and where officers can run their own tags and people when they can.
- Getting more Deputies involved and teaching the D.A.R.E. Program.
